For this #flexfridayfact from flexforaccess we wanted to share the startling reality that individuals with physical disabilities are not participating in adaptive sport or fitness. In fact, 93% of women with disabilities don’t participate. We strive to change that. One of the ways is through the work that our Founder and Executive Director, Jess Silver is doing with seewhatshecando and the #paramazingcircle. Check out this post and register for Tuesday’s upcoming workshop if you are an industry professional in adaptive fitness promotion and sport. Exposure, Engagement and Retention of Adaptive Athletes in fitness and sport is something I am passionate about to my very core. I am very excited to be one of professionals, co-leaders and speakers at this upcoming workshop with seewhatshecando parasportontario and jesslewisparalympian on Tuesday June 29th from 12-1:30pm EST. The workshop will analyze the issues surrounding adaptive athlete engagement and retention and look at evaluating coaching and organizational best practices for professionals. I will be sharing expertise into how to create adaptive programming in the mainstream. We want to raise awareness and questions, create discussion and actionable opportunities for change and engagement in adaptive fitness and sport and in this session focus on females in sport and fitness. The workshop is for industry professionals and clinicians and coaches or policy leaders such as Kinesiologists, Strength and Conditioning Coaches, Yoga Instructors, PTs, Coaches in Sport, University Professors, Organization Leaders, Policy Stakeholders and Support Networks.
