This month's Special Olympics Canada Athlete of the Month is Brita Hall, from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has traveled the world competing in cross-country skiing and athletics as a long-distance runner. In 2014, she was the first athlete to receive the Dr. Frank Hayden Lifetime Achievement Award – a prestigious national award given to athletes who’ve best exemplified the spirit, philosophy, and goals of the Special Olympics movement over the course of their career. You are amazing, Brita! 🙌
Hardwood would like to extend a huge congratulations to all the athletes who competed in the US Biathlon Association's Rollerski National Championships at Jericho, Vermont, USA. The Jr women’s podium was a Canadian sweep, with Hardwood's own Zoe Pekos bringing home 2nd in Junior Women’s category in the sprint. Another Hardwood Biathlon team member, Troy Martel, took 3rd place in the Junior Men’s category.
