Individual Neutral Athletes
While the Senior, Under 23, and Under 19 World Rowing Championships are usually held as separate events, during an Olympic and Paralympic year these championships are combined into one event known as the Mega Worlds. For this edition of the Mega Worlds, the eight days of competition (August 18-25) will bring together 1,800 athletes, coaches and team managers from over 60 countries to compete at the Royal Canadian Henley Rowing Course in Port Dalhousie. This will be the third time the historic venue hosts the World Rowing Championships, having previously hosted them in 1970 and 1999.
“The caliber of athlete participation is excellent. Even though we were anticipating a greater number of countries to participate in the 2024 Mega Worlds, we are excited to welcome this world-class competition to St. Catharines”, stated Bill Schenck, Chair, St. Catharines World Rowing.
Opening Ceremony for the Mega Worlds is scheduled for Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Brock University commencing at 6:00pm.
