With the spirit of celebration and accomplishment, the three-day 2024 FISU World University Cheerleading Championship came to a thrilling close today in Split.
With teams from 13 different countries vying for the title of World Champion, the atmosphere has been truly electrifying. Despite the competitive nature of the event, teams cheered each other on and filled the venue with contagious joy.
The first part of the competition ended with medals and awards in the categories of Team Hip Hop and Pom Doubles. The awards were presented by the Mayor of the City of Split Ivica Puljak and the president of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation Haris Pavletić.
Team HipHop First Place gold went to team Australia, silver to team China and bronce to team Hungary, On the other hand, third place in pom doubles went to Slovenia, Australians were silver and team Japan won the gold medal.
Team USA closed out the day’s performances and the pinnacle of excitement reverberated throughout the arena. The ceremony for the remaining medals and awards commenced with the Croatian national anthem and a speech from Marko Žunić, FISU Executive committee member, who rightfully said “before, I didn’t know much about Cheerleading, but now I understand the true essence of the word cheer in cheerleading.”

Closing remarks were given by Ms Nomsa Mahlangu, FISU Executive committee member, who expressed, “I have words of gratitude; They say people forget what you tell them but not how they made you feel. We felt home and welcomed. This is one of the best championships I’ve ever been to. To all the judges, we appreciate your dedication and to all the men and women in yellow and blue, thank you for guiding us and helping us to enjoy Split. Let’s give a cheer for university sports.”
Everyone celebrated not only the day’s remarkable achievements but also the cherished memories made and the invaluable lessons learned along the way. With hearts brimming with gratitude and spirits uplifted, goodbyes, and congratulations filled the halls.
