Surprisingly simple to learn and tricky to master, pickleball is quickly gaining traction with a younger audience. It’s a cross between table tennis (sometimes known as ping pong), badminton and tennis.
Reason #1. The speed, flexibility and reaction time needed to play means you focus on the here and now, blocking out any daily stress.
Reason #2. You can hang with friends and get your sweat on in just one hour.
Reason #3. It's affordable. We paid just $3 for a 2-hour drop-in.
Pickleball can be played as a single or as a pair (doubles). Using a whiffle ball (that plastic ball with holes in it that you used in gym class as a kid) and a bigger version of a table tennis racket, you serve diagonally to the other team. If the serve is won, you earn a point. If the serve is lost, your teammate serves next, again on the diagonal. When the serve is lost, the player on the right side of the other team serves and the game continues.
Pickleball rules are tricky but it's an exciting sport and lots of resources. Learn more here.
