In the forty-one year history of the Canadian Ringette Championships, PEI has never finished higher than eleventh place, until today. PEI Wave beat previously undefeated Team Alberta (Calgary Impulse) 4-3 in an overtime quarterfinal to move onto the semi-final game against West Ottawa at the 2019 Credit Union Canadian Ringette Championships. PEI downed West Ottawa 6-4 in the semi to secure a spot in the gold-medal final tomorrow. They will meet Calgary Core after Calgary beat Team New Brunswick 4-1 today. West Ottawa and New Brunswick will meet tomorrow morning for U16 bronze.

In today’s NRL championship tournament play, Atlantic Attack beat Ottawa Ice 9-3 and secured a spot in the gold-medal final tomorrow. They will meet Calgary RATH after they beat the Cambridge Turbos 4-2 in the semi-final tonight. Cambridge goes home with NRL bronze.

In the U19 division, Laurentides (QC) continued their winning streak, beating Edmonton Elite 6-3 in the quarter-finals and Nepean Ravens 6-5 in the semis. They will face Team Ontario (Guelph Predators) for gold tomorrow. The Predators beat Team New Brunswick 6-3 in the quarter-finals and Calgary Rush 5-3 in the semis. Calgary Rush and the Nepean Ravens will meet tomorrow for U19 bronze.

Forty-five teams from across the country are competing for national titles in the U16 and U19 divisions, as well as the National Ringette League championship title. Games are taking at Credit Union Place in Summerside, Bell Aliant Centre in Charlottetown, APM Centre in Cornwall and Pownal Sports Centre in Alexandra. Gold medal finals in all three divisions take place on Saturday, April 13 (U16 at 10:00 ADT in Summerside, U19 at 13:00 ADT in Charlottetown, and NRL at 15:00 ADT in Charlottetown). All-stars and the NRL Annual Awards will be announced at the closing ceremony on Saturday night in Charlottetown.
