Teamwork. Hard work. Good work.
Just a few of the phrases that come to mind to describe the play and the players competing in Ringette Ontario's AA Provincial Championships. Held in Waterloo from March 3rd to March 7th, teams representing many of the province's over sixty local ringette associations came to play in five different divisions and to earn the right to be called provincial champions.
For many of the teams competing, the 2022 AA Provincial Championships was their first tournament not only for the year but over the last two years because of the immense impact the global COVID-19 pandemic has had on all aspects of sport participation and operation. For coaches, players and fans alike, their excitement to be back playing, guiding and cheering was palpable and their enthusiasm to be on the bench, on the ice and in the stands defintely front and centre.
The 2022 AA Provincial Championships determined champions for five divisions including U14AA, U16AA, U19AA, 18+AA and 18+ University. With each participating team playing multiple games over multiple days, the final results celebrate those teams that finished in the top three of their respective Divisions.
Congratulations to all medal winning teams and to every team who earned the right to represent their local ringette association at this year's AA Provincial Championships. In addition, we also congratulate the U16AA, U19AA gold medal winners who have earned the right to represent Ontario at the 2022 Canadian Ringette Championships (CRC 2022) to be held in Calgary, Alberta from April 3rd to April 9th.
