Hello again from Team Inglis!
It's hard to believe that another event has come and gone! We are now getting deeper into the curling season and have another playoff appearance under our belts. This weekend, we traveled to Oakville, Ontario to compete in the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard. Stu Sells just so happens to be one of our team sponsors this season and we always have the best time at their events!
In our first game on Thursday, we played Team Peterson from the USA. After a close back-and-forth game we managed to pull out the 7-6 victory. We then had the evening off and caught up with each other over a nice team dinner and an epic game of Guesstures. Game night came down to the wire but inevitably, the more experienced team of Danielle and Cass (aka 'the moms') won the tight battle, leaving 'the kids' (Kira and Calissa) hungry for next week's rematch.
On Friday, we were joined by our coach Steve Acorn for the first time this season. We were thrilled to have him come out this weekend, as he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team and we're very thankful to have him join us this year. We only had one game on Friday against Team Walsh, we went on to win the game 9-1.
Saturday was moving day for us as we faced Team Jewer in the morning. It was a back-and-forth game early, the game was broken open in the sixth end by a beauty team shot led by our skipper Danielle for a big three-ball. We went on to win the game 8-4. We closed out the day by playing a strong Team Strouse where several key shots during the game led our way to a 7-3 victory and top spot in our pool. This record allowed us to secure the bye into the quarterfinal on Sunday morning.
We ran into a red-hot Team Peterson in the quarters and lost a 6-3 decision. We finished the event with a 4-1 record. We're looking forward to building on our successes and learnings going into the rest of the season! Our next event is fast approaching, we will be heading to Cornwall, Ontario, September 20-24 for the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Classic.
Thanks for following along!
