1. How did you first get introduced to curling?
I was first introduced to curling by my dad. He took me out to the curling club one day. I fell in love and never looked back.
2. Was there someone or something that was a key motivating factor for you to curl and to aspire to play at a high level?
The support and encouragement my family, and more specifically my dad, gave me while I was growing up really allowed me to chase my dreams and aspirations of being a high level curler.
3. What would you tell someone aspiring to be a high level curler to do to develop the skills and mindset needed to be able to compete and play at the highest levels of the game?
Surround yourself with likeminded people who have similar goals and commitment levels to you. Practice, practice, practice!! If you’re not, someone else is.
4. What do you enjoy most about the game of curling?
I enjoy being able to create lifelong friendships with teammates and people you meet along the way.
5. If you could go back in time, what would you tell your 10 year old self?
If I could go back in time, I would tell myself to continue to work hard because it will pay off. You never know what opportunity could be next.
6. Do you have a favourite memory that stands out in your curling career to date?
My favorite memory that stands out in my curling career is winning a silver medal at the 2022 Canadian Junior Championships alongside my best friends. The team got along so well and we had a ton of fun together which makes this such an important memory for me. Even though we lost in the final, I was surrounded by great people who made the loss hurt less.
7. What one piece of advice would you give to someone just starting out in the game of curling?
I would say get to know people in your local curling club. It’s a very fun and challenging sport, so give it a chance and try something new.
8. What one suggestion/recommendation would you make to increase what Canadians know about high-level competitive curling and the elite players who compete to be the best in the game? How do you see this making a difference?
I think increasing the visibility of curling at all levels of the game is crucial for promoting the sport. Many people associate curling with casual play at local clubs, but it's important for Canadians to understand the dedication, time, and resources needed to become elite curlers.
