Started in 1995, Ultimate Canada's Canadian University Ultimate Championship Series (CUUC I & CUUC II) brings together university teams in both Open and Women's Divisions to compete for the national championship. Prior to the national CUUC event, regional or provincial university pre-qualification tournaments are run to determine which teams go to the national CUUC event. The regional/provincial qualifier tournaments include:
The Canadian Western University Ultimate Championships (CWUUC)
The Canadian Praries University Ultimate Championships (CPUUC)
The Canadian Eastern University Ultimate Championships (CEUUC)
The Canadian Atlantic University Ultimate Championships (CAUUC)
Winners of each of these pre-qualification tournatments earn a spot at the CUUC. The CUUC itself is broken down into two parts: CUUC I - Division 1 and CUUC II - Division 2. CUUC I includes those teams that have earned a spot through the pre-qualification process. CUUC I also includes those teams that have earned a spot by competing in a final Friday qualification tournament held by Ultimate Canada on the Friday before the weekend the official CUUC national tournament is hosted. The top eight teams of both the Women's and Open divisions play in CUUC I. Those teams that have registered to play in the CUUC but are ranked nineth and below in the tournament play in CUUC II. For more details on qualifying for the CUUC, check out Ultimate Canada's CUUC FAQ page.
Coming off the heals of hosting a successful 2018 single gender Canadian Ultimate Championship in August in Brampton, Ontario, Ultimate Canada returned to this large bedroom community northwest of Toronto and to Creditview/Sandlewood Park to do it all again for the 2018 CUUC. The hard work and tireless efforts of both the staff and volunteers of Ultimate Canada and the City of Brampton made for yet another successful national ultimate championship event.

SeeWhatSheCanDo was excited to have to the opportunity to capture some great moments during Friday afternoon's Women's Division pre-qualifier tournament action and some of Saturday's CUUC I Women's Division action. Both days of our coverage continued to impress upon us that ultimate is a game of teamwork, team spirit and a focus on 'we' and not 'me'. A game where team success is rooted in the fundamentals of community and collaboration.
